On March 11, the Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Aida Balayeva, appointed renowned theater figure Alexander Sovostyanov as the head of Astana Opera.
Alexander Sovostyanov's name is closely linked with the history of the theater. In 2013, when Astana Opera was founded, he was among its pioneers, serving as Deputy Director. In the following years, he successfully led Astana Ballet, strengthening its position on the international stage. With extensive management experience in the arts and media industries, he has established himself as a skilled leader and strategist.
In his first address to the team, Alexander Sovostyanov emphasized expanding the repertoire and enhancing international cooperation while continuing to develop Astana Opera’s theatrical traditions. He also highlighted support for young talents and audience expansion as key priorities.
