Dear friends,
I wholeheartedly congratulate you on National Book Day! This day is being celebrated for the first time this year at the initiative of our President, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev.
Such a noble initiative carries profound meaning and invaluable educational value. It is one of the key ways to shape a forward-thinking nation and develop human capital in our country. As the great Kazakh writer Abish Kekilbayev once said:
"It was the book that made a person human, and the library that made humankind."
Indeed, the pursuit of knowledge, tireless curiosity, love for books, and openness to new ideas will undoubtedly strengthen our nation's place in global civilization. That is why we must all take an active role in enriching this national day with meaningful content and raising its profile.
With this in mind, on the eve of National Book Day, we joined the "Let’s Read Together" marathon. As part of this event, Kazakhstan’s People's Writer Tolen Abdik entrusted us with the baton to select the next book for public reading. We extend our deep gratitude to him for this gesture.
In turn, I have recommended several books that I believe will broaden the horizons of our readers, especially the younger generation. The goal is to encourage youth not only to read fiction, but also to explore scientific and educational literature — and to support the translation of global works into our native language.
Happy National Book Day!
May the people of Kazakhstan, as our President said, become a nation that reads!
