The Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai, a friend of our Cultural Legacy Fund.
He gained worldwide fame for his novels “Satantango” (1985), “The Melancholy of Resistance” (1989), “War and War” (1999), and “Baron Wenckheim’s Homecoming” (2016).
The Nobel Committee’s jury honored him for “powerful and visionary writing that, amid apocalyptic despair, reaffirms the strength of art.”
Born in 1954 in the Hungarian town of Gyula, Krasznahorkai spent much of his childhood in the countryside — where the themes that became the heart of his dark yet mesmerizing books were born.
On behalf of the Cultural Legacy Fund, we sincerely admire and congratulate László, wishing him continued creative success and inspiration!
With respect,
Impresario,
Elbrus Imambaev.
