On March 1, the ballet Spartacus was staged at the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The performance was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Eduard Malbekov — an outstanding soloist and teacher.

From 1960 to 1984, he was a leading artist of the theatre, creating remarkable roles in both the classical and Soviet repertoire. After concluding his stage career, he devoted himself to teaching and mentoring new generations of performers.
