On May 19, 2026, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography hosted a Science Café meeting titled “Principles of Forming the Repertoire of the ‘Gulder’ Ensemble.”
The speaker of the event was Anvara Sadykova, chief choreographer of the “Gulder” ensemble.
During the meeting, Anvara Aripovna spoke about the history of the “Gulder” ensemble, the concept of its rebranding, and its development directions. For the participants, it was important to revisit the ensemble’s history and study its contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s culture in the 1960s–1980s. As part of the discussion on heritage, video materials and photo archives were presented, allowing the audience to gain new insights into the continuity between the renewed “Gulder” and the original ensemble. Throughout the meeting, Science Café guests also evaluated the creativity of the young troupe by comparing it with the scale and significance of the 20th-century “Gulder” ensemble.
Today, “Gulder” is a creative group with its own distinctive artistic identity. The ensemble continues to develop a unique repertoire and bring talented individuals together through creative projects. Undoubtedly, the key factor in the ensemble’s development is each participant’s dedication and ability to grow professionally. Ensemble artists have the opportunity not only to perform choreographic productions but also to try themselves in the roles of choreographer-director, librettist, and rehearsal coach.
Special attention during the meeting was given to preserving cultural heritage, searching for new stage solutions, and highlighting the importance of the “Gulder” ensemble in the development of national art.
The event became a platform for exchanging opinions and professional experience and was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. At the end of the meeting, Anvara Sadykova presented the choreographic video project “ALZHIR,” filmed two years ago on the territory of the Akmola Camp for Wives of Traitors to the Motherland. Participants highly appreciated the project as a vivid experiment combining the possibilities of artificial intelligence, museum space, folk music (the kuy “Tolgau”), expressive performance by Inkar Aidarkhankyzy, and the choreographer’s talent.
