As part of the Operalia International Music Festival, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the long-awaited premiere of the new production of The Sleeping Beauty ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky will take place on June 20 and 21 on the stage of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre Astana Opera. This grand performance will feature not only the theatre’s leading soloists and artists, but also young performers — students of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography.
The production involves 25 primary-level students from the Academy’s school-college of professional education, who will appear on stage alongside professional dancers and become part of this vibrant ballet production.
This legendary ballet, a treasure of the global artistic heritage, will be presented in a new interpretation by the Artistic Director of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography and the ballet company of Astana Opera, People's Artist of Russia, Altynai Asylmuratova.
Her version is distinguished by its expressive depth, refined plasticity, and a careful approach to classical traditions, which she continues to develop with confidence on the Kazakhstani stage.
