Young Virtuosos Take Centre Stage

The Youth and Inspiration project, aimed at supporting Kazakhstan’s emerging musicians, has become a well-established tradition at Astana Opera. On 11 March, the Kulyash Baiseitova Chamber Hall presents a showcase of young talents who have already reached their first significant professional milestones.

The spring programme features winners of prestigious international and national competitions: a student from the Kulyash Baiseitova Kazakh National University of Arts and pupils of its specialist music school. Performing are violinists Sagadat Omargazin, Stefaniya Mokhnacheva, Yeldana Kopbay, Inzhu Myrzabayeva, cellist Sultan Beskembirov and French horn player Arman Zhaken – pupils of Professor Aiman Mussakhajayeva and teachers Aigerim Yergaliyeva, Murat Narbekov and Yerlan Zhakenov.

The young soloists will be accompanied by the Astana Opera Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Elmar Buribayev.

“Our concerts offer promising artists the chance to make their mark by performing on the prestigious Chamber Hall stage, providing invaluable experience in artistic dialogue with established masters. For the audience, it is a rare opportunity to be among the first to hear and appreciate the artistry of the next generation of performers,” says Elmar Buribayev.

The evening’s programme presents a vibrant palette of masterpieces from various eras. The capital’s audience can look forward to Paganini’s virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 1 and the deeply lyrical Violin Concerto in E minor by Mendelssohn. The repertoire also includes works by Mozart, filled with bright harmony and grace: the first movement of Violin Concerto No. 4 in D major and the first movement of Horn Concerto No. 3 in E-flat major. The first movement of Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major, in the Popper arrangement, will bring classical structure and refined resonance to the stage.

“The selected repertoire is a serious challenge for any performer. The programme is designed to fully reveal the different facets of the soloists’ talent. The Paganini and Mendelssohn concertos demand not only flawless technique but also spiritual maturity and the ability to convey the finest nuances of the score. At the same time, Mozart and Haydn’s works are benchmarks of stylistic purity and clarity of form. Performing such pieces requires young artists to demonstrate both technical skill and a profound understanding of the composer’s artistic intent. Performing with an orchestra is a vital milestone in a musician’s professional development, allowing these young soloists to fully realise their potential,” concluded Maestro Elmar Buribayev.

The performance begins at 7pm.
