On February 19, a unique international-format project — Puccini Dance Circus Opera — was presented on the stage of the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The performance brought together opera, contemporary dance, theatre, and circus arts, offering the audience a distinctive artistic experience. The production was dedicated to the works of Giacomo Puccini and presented a modern artistic interpretation of his famous operas — Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and Turandot.
The stage action was enhanced by a combination of live and electronic music, aerial and ground choreography, multi-level staging, and lighting design. A new stage language based on body plasticity allowed audiences to experience Puccini’s music from a fresh perspective.
The project was realized as a collaboration between the Italian company blucinQue and ORT — Orchestra della Toscana. The Almaty performance featured international artists as well as conductor @kuanyshismailov_conductor and the theatre orchestra musicians.
The performance was organized to mark the 100th anniversary of the composer’s passing and became a vivid example of cultural cooperation between Italy and Kazakhstan.
Puccini Dance Circus Opera offered Almaty audiences a rare opportunity to experience a world-class stage production and was met with great enthusiasm and warm reception.
