From March 30 to April 4, 2025, Almaty will host the IX International "Өрлеу" Choreographic Educational Institutions Competition.
This competition has been held regularly since 2008. It aims to foster and strengthen international creative cooperation, facilitate experience exchange among choreographic institutions, discover young talents, enhance performance skills, and develop the best traditions of classical, folk, and contemporary dance art.
The competition will be held in three categories: "Classical Dance," "Folk Dance," and "Contemporary Choreography."
This year, 134 participants from 8 countries will take part, including Russia, South Korea, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
The competition will take place at three venues in Almaty: the training theater of the Almaty Choreographic School, the "Almaty Theatre" stage, and the final gala concert, where winners will perform on the stage of the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The event is organized by the Alexander Seleznev Almaty Choreographic School with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
