"Nomad Inspiration – The Breath of the Great Steppe"

The creative evening "Nomad Inspiration – The Breath of the Great Steppe", featuring the talented choreographer and ballet dancer Sultanbek Gumar and the HasSak ethno-folk ensemble, was presented to the public on the grand stage of the Astana Opera theater.

This masterpiece, born from deep reflection, touched the hearts of every Kazakh, captivating the audience with its unique authenticity. The value of Sultanbek Gumar’s productions is like a pure, crystal-clear spring cascading down from a towering mountain. As spectators, we immersed ourselves in its beauty, quenching our artistic thirst and experiencing true delight.

The evening opened with a dazzling choreographic performance, "Toi Bastar", symbolizing the richness, generosity, and kindness of our nation’s traditions and customs.

A key highlight that set this evening apart was the harmonious fusion of the HasSak ensemble’s musical masterpieces – "HasSaknama," "The Great Silk Road," "Zauren," "Örleu," "Aŋsau," "The Turan Tiger," and "Tartu" – along with the Astana Opera theater's symphony orchestra, conducted by Ruslan Baymurzyn, and one of the world’s most melodious and pure-sounding choirs.

The performance bridged two worlds, embodying the fate, aspirations, and struggles of our people through dance. It skillfully intertwined centuries-old nomadic traditions with modern artistic demands, creating a cultural bridge that connects the past and present.

Two of Sultanbek Gumar’s most remarkable choreographic works presented in the evening were "Aralym" and "Álem".

"Aralym" is not just a story about an ecological disaster but also a powerful symbol of our homeland and the origins of our people.

In contrast, the choreographic miniature "Álem" conveys a profound message: in this world, we have two mothers – Mother Nature and the Woman-Mother. Humanity is a child of nature, while our beloved mothers cradle both the cradle and the world itself. Since ancient times, Kazakh women have shaped history, inspiring future generations to look ahead with confidence and preserve the national heritage with honor. This production depicted the image of women from three different eras, emphasizing their invaluable role in culture and society.

Those who witnessed tonight’s performance were truly fortunate, while those who missed it can only dream of what they lost! This is true art – a mystical and grandiose spectacle that uplifts the spirit. May our talented artists, who elevate the prestige of our nation, continue to shine!
