A grand season finale at Astana Ballet — the premiere of Carmina Burana, marking the 130th anniversary of Carl Orff.
On July 5 and 6, the Astana Ballet stage hosted a remarkable premiere. For the first time in the theatre's history, the ballet company, symphony orchestra, and choir shared a single artistic space.
This mystical, powerful, and philosophical production — directed by Mukaram Avakhri and Timur Zagidullin — became a meditation on the eternal: fate, temptation, love, and spiritual transformation.
And ultimately — on the triumph of good over evil.
At the heart of the ballet are two souls — a young man and woman — who undergo trials and seductions in their pursuit of a higher form of love. The entire performance unfolds beneath the ever-turning Wheel of Fortune — a symbol of destiny.
Once again, the Astana Ballet company demonstrated exceptional mastery — heartfelt thanks to the entire ensemble and its artistic director, Nurlan Kanetov.
The orchestra, conducted by maestro Arman Urazgaliyev, was brilliant. Special thanks to the combined choir under the direction of Gulmira Kuttybadamova.
Bravo to vocalists Azamat Zheltyrguzov, Talgat Allabirinov, and the stunning Firuza Rakhmetova.
This was the first premiere under the new theatre director, Tahir Karatayev — may many more spectacular productions follow!
