On May 20–21, 2025, the city of Aktau in the Mangystau region will host the national scientific and creative competition “Abish Readings,” organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Scientific-Practical Center “Daryn,” and the Department of Education of Mangystau region.
The competition aims to honor the legacy of Abish Kekilbayuly — a distinguished writer, philosopher, and pride of the Kazakh nation — and to introduce his works to the younger generation.
Each region of Kazakhstan will send one team consisting of 8 students (grades 8–11) and 1 team leader. A total of 160 students and 22 supervisors are expected to participate.
The competition offers participants a chance to deeply engage with the ideas and literary legacy of Abish Kekilbayuly.

The competition takes place on the sacred land of Mangystau — a region that is an integral part of Kazakh history and culture. Known as the resting place of 362 saints, including Beket Ata, Shakpak Ata, and Shopan Ata, this land also gave birth to Abish Kekilbayuly, whose literary and cultural contributions are deeply significant to the nation.
Through this competition, participants will draw inspiration from his works and connect with his rich spiritual world.
The goal is to nurture young talents, unlock their creative potential, and support their growth in the literary field. The event is also a tribute to the enduring legacy of Abish Kekilbayuly.

Main events and closing — at the private school AIS (Aqtau International School), 18th Microdistrict.
