At the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, several proposals submitted by Kazakhstan were approved.
The 100th anniversaries of the renowned opera singer Yermek Serkebayev and distinguished film director Abdolla Karsakbayev have been included in UNESCO’s calendar of anniversaries for 2026–2027.
This represents an international recognition of the Kazakhstani cultural figures who made a remarkable contribution to both national and global culture.
UNESCO’s Calendar of Anniversaries is the official list of commemorative events and jubilees supported by the Organization and celebrated at the international level.
According to the UNESCO Secretariat, since 1956 the Organization has taken part in celebrating 1,234 commemorative dates, 31 of which were proposed by Kazakhstan.
Among them are the 150th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayuly, the 2200th anniversary of Shymkent, the 1000th anniversary of Almaty, and the centenaries of Mukhtar Auezov, Kanysh Satbayev, Sabit Mukanov, and others.
This year, a festive concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous composer and conductor Nurgisa Tlendiev was held at UNESCO Headquarters.
