An evening of ballet at the Astana Opera blended classical and contemporary styles, emotion and philosophy, masterful technique and profound meaning.
The first part of the night featured a Gala Ballet program:
The evening opened with “Toy Heads”, a cheerful and festive piece choreographed by Sultanbek Gumar. His other works “Mangurt” and “Kemel Adam” were also warmly received by the audience.
The program included beloved classical performances — the pas de deux from The Nutcracker, a pas de from The Talisman, and the Gypsy Dance to music by Zelobinsky, choreographed by Kasyan Goleizovsky.
At the conductor’s podium — Yerbolat Akhmedyarov.
The second half of the evening featured an emotional and metaphorical one-act ballet by German choreographer Raimondo Rebeck titled “How Long Does the Present Moment Last?”
Music: M. Richter, J. Escott, E. Bosso, O. Arnalds, Los Angeles, and the powerful rhythms of Les Tambours du Bronx.
Special emphasis was placed on the works of Ludovico Einaudi (composer of the soundtrack to “The Intouchables”), whose pieces were seamlessly woven into the choreography.
The performance involved the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra and ballet artists.
Conductor — Yerbolat Akhmedyarov.
The evening became a brilliant artistic event — like that fleeting moment when time stands still.
